1938 – Singer/songwriter/producer Norro Wilson is born in Scottsville, Kentucky. He died of heart failure on June 8, 2017

1944 – Songwriter Bob McDill is born in Walden, Texas.

1971 – Music artist Clay Davidson is born in Saltville, Virginia.

1977 – Kenny Rogers is #1 on the Country Charts with Lucille.

1996 – Shania Twain continues to dominate the US Country Music Charts with The Woman in Me at #1.

2006 – Hank Williams Jr. surrenders to police due to a warrant issued as the result of an alleged assault. The charges would be later dropped in 2007 due to a lack of evidence.
