Just before 10 PM Thursday night, Ottumwa Police were called about shots fired at a home in the 100 block of North Ward Street.  The caller said one person had been shot and the suspect drove off.  The victim was taken to Ottumwa Regional Hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released pending notification of relatives.  Then around 10:40pm, Police found the suspect’s vehicle in the 300 block of North Birch Street.  Then at 12:07am Friday, Police arrested 18-year-old Jacob Heckethorn of Ottumwa for first degree murder and attempted murder.  Heckethorn is being held in the Wapello County Jail without bond.
