Ottumwa student arrested after making threats to shoot another student

A student from Ottumwa is in custody for making a threat at Evans Middle School.  Ottumwa Police say they were contacted Monday night about a face-time conversation on Snapchat where an Evans Middle School student was brandishing a gun and threatening to shoot another student at Evans.  About 90 minutes later, Police were able to find the student who made the threat and determine that the threat was real.  Tuesday afternoon, the student was arrested and charged with first degree harassment, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.  The student, who isn’t being named, has been placed in a juvenile detention facility.
