OSKALOOSA CROSS COUNTRY AND VOLLEYBALL

Oskaloosa cross country and volleyball

After having their last two meets cancelled because of the weather, the Oskaloosa High boys and girls cross country teams were able to run Tuesday at a meet in Centerville.  The Indians girls finished in first place, led by Lauren Coon, who was second overall, Leah Wilcox, who was eighth and Sage Adam, who finished tenth.   On the boys side, Oskaloosa finished in third place with the Indians’ Carter Huyser winning the race with a time of 16 minutes, 39 seconds—nearly two minutes ahead of the runner-up. Next up for the Indians is the Little Hawkeye Conference cross country meet, which will be held Monday afternoon at Edmundson Park in Oskaloosa.

Switching to volleyball, Oskaloosa was swept at Indianola last night.  Indianola is ranked 11th in the state in Class 5A, won 25-9, 25-12 and 25-13.  Freshman Faith DeRonde led the Indians with six kills.  Oskaloosa’s now 8-11 on the year.  The Indians will host their invitational tournament on Saturday.
