OSKALOOSA INDIANS #1 IN BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL POLL

Oskaloosa Indians #1 in boys high school basketball poll

They’re number one.  Oskaloosa is on top of the first Class 3A boys’ high school basketball poll from Associated Press.  The Indians received six out of ten first place votes.  Three Little Hawkeye Conference teams received votes in the 3A poll: Norwalk, Grinnell and Pella.  The 4-0 Indians play at Washington tonight.  We’ll have the game on KBOE-FM with pregame around 7:30 and tipoff scheduled at 7:45 tonight.

Also in the first AP boys’ basketball rankings of the season, Pella Christian and EBF got votes in the 2A poll, but not enough to get into the top ten.  In Class 1A boys, Montezuma is ranked second and Lynnville-Sully received votes.

Monday (12/10) in boys’ high school basketball: HLV over TWIN Cedars 44-27 and Pekin defeated Cardinal 67-45.  In girls’ basketball: Sigourney edged Washington 31-29, HLV over Twin Cedars 30-23 and Pekin downed Cardinal 72-24.

Tonight’s (12/11) high school basketball schedule has boys’ only matchups with Oskaloosa at Washington and Tri-County hosting English Valleys.  And there are girls and boys basketball doubleheaders tonight, with Colfax-Mingo at North Mahaska, Sigourney hosts Iowa Valley, Fairfield at Pella, Montezuma at HLV, Twin Cedars at Moravia, EBF at Grand View Christian, Lynnville-Sully at BGM, Waukee at Ottumwa, Knoxville at Davis County and Keota hosts Belle Plaine.
