2018 ELECTION BY THE NUMBERS

2018 election by the numbers

Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate has released a statistical breakdown of the 2018 November election.  Younger voters turned out in higher numbers than any midterm election since 2002—with 39.6 percent of registered voters between the ages of 18 and 36 casting ballots.  Overall, just over 60 percent of Iowa registered voters took part in the November election. And if you’re wondering about turnout according to party, almost 493,000 Republicans voted compared to almost 459,000 Democrats.  Over 368,000 Iowans who voted said they weren’t affiliated with either party.
