WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ISSUED FOR THIS AFTERNOON

Winter weather advisory issued for this afternoon

Driving could get slippery Tuesday afternoon (2/5).  The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that takes effect at noon today until midnight.  Periods of snow, sleet and freezing rain will cause travel difficulties.  Several areas could see a glaze of ice.  There isn’t a lot of precipitation in the forecast–less than an inch of snow and sleet, plus one to two tenth of an inch of ice–but that’s enough to cause problems when driving. Drivers should plan on a slick commute Tuesday night, and some roads could be ice covered. The Ottumwa area is expected to get the highest amounts of precipitation. Expect a repeat of Tuesday on Wednesday…and Thursday.
