FREEZING DRIZZLE CONTINUES WEDNESDAY MORNING; ANOTHER WINTRY MIX ON THE WAY

Freezing drizzle continues Wednesday morning; another wintry mix on the way

Lingering freezing drizzle could create slick spots on the roads Wednesday morning. Several parts of eastern Iowa remain under winter weather advisories.  Another system is set to bring freezing rain and sleet.  A break in precipitation is likely from late morning through mid-afternoon Wednesday.

The next system will bring more precipitation including some snow overnight into Thursday morning. The entire system wraps up Thursday afternoon.  Total freezing rain and sleet accumulation will be 0.1″ to 0.2″ range in many areas.  For Thursday’s commute,  be careful of freezing rain that could create slick conditions and slow traffic.

Total snowfall over the northwest half will be in the 1 to 3-inch range, with locations from a Dubuque-Cedar Rapids line and southeast receiving 1 inch or less.

Temperatures fall with the gusty northwest winds on Thursday. Expect lows to be a few degrees below zero by Friday morning.
