TWO CHARGED IN OTTUMWA ROBBERY

Two charged in Ottumwa robbery

Ottumwa Police have arrested two men in connection with a shooting and robbery early Friday morning (3/15). Shortly before 2am, Ottumwa Police got a 911 call about shots fired near Williams and Moore Street. Police were able to find a truck leaving the area and spoke to the people inside.  A loaded handgun was found in the truck.  Meanwhile, 18-year-old Taylor Walker of Ottumwa arrived at Ottumwa Regional Health Center’s emergency room with gunshot wounds to his leg.  Walker told Police he was robbed by four men and was subsequently shot by the suspects.  Police secured the truck and got a search warrant. Officers found evidence related to the robbery.  The driver of the truck, 20-year-old Adolfo De Avila of Des Moines was arrested and charged with prohibited acts, possession of Xanax and various traffic offenses.  21-year-old Desmond Lovelady-Brown was arrested and charged with carrying weapons.  Ottumwa Police say the suspects may have removed potential evidence…and Police ask people who live between Sheridan Street west to Ward Street and south of Church Street to Williams Street to check their yards for anything unusual that might be evidence of a shooting.  If you have information about this shooting Friday morning, call Ottumwa Police.
