Oskaloosa will be well represented at this week’s Drake Relays in Des Moines. For the boys, Casey Hill in the discus, Carter Huyser in the 400, the Indians’ distance medley relay team of Aaron Blom, Casey Hill, Brayden VanKampen and Carter Huyser, the Indians’ 4 by 100 relay team of Aaron Blom, Reed Brown, Brayden VanKampen and Casey Hill and the Indians’ 4 by 400 relay team of Brayden VanKampen, Iszac Schultz, Aaron Blom and Carter Huyser. Oskaloosa girls who qualified for the Drake Relays are: Faith DeRonde and Sophia Dykstra in the discus, Emma Kelderman in the high jump and 400 hurdles, and the Indians’ 4 by 100 relay team of Brooke Allen, Savannah Wiltse, Jordan Czerwinski and Emma Kelderman.
Other area athletes in the Drake Relays are Jonathan Bossou of Ottumwa in the 110 hurdles, Kalen Walker of EBF in the boys 100, Tyson Vander Linden of Lynnville-Sully in the boys 400 hurdles and 100, Joe Simon of Grinnell in the boys 800, Pella and PCM in the boys 4 by 100 relay, Payton Schauf of Sigourney in the boys discus, Jordan Buma of Pella in the 110 hurdles, Pella’s Nick DeJong in the boys shot put and discus, Blake Veenstra of Pella Christian and Kody Huisman of Pella in the boys discus, Mason Huerter of Pella in the boys shot put, Anne Guest of Ottumwa in the girls high jump, Ottumwa’s girls sprint medley relay, boys 4 by 200 relay, boys 4 by 100 relay and girls’ 4 by 400 relay, Ottumwa’s Allison Bookin-Nobusch in the girls 800 and 400, the Bulldogs’ Grace Bookin-Nobusch in the girls 800, Pella’s Metsje Miller in the 100, Kylee Neighbors of Grinnell and Shelby Conger of Montezuma in the girls high jump, Ottumwa’s boys and girls both qualified in the 4 by 800 meter relay, Elsie THoresen of Pella in the girls 400 hurdles, Sigourney’s Summer Barthelman in the girls 400 and 400 hurdles, Pella, Pella Christian, PCM and Grinnell in the girls 4 by 100 relay, Pella in the girls 4 by 200 and 4 by 400 relays, Albia’s boys’ 4 by 100 relay team and Allison Van Gorp of Pella Christian in the girls shot put. The Drake Relays start on Wednesday (4/24) and run through Saturday (4/27).
