Osky XC Dominates in Big Wins at Home

The Oskaloosa cross country teams made H15TORY Tuesday night, just like the theme of this week’s homecoming.

Both the boys and the girls won the Oskaloosa Invitational at Edmundson Park, taking the top team spots for the first time on both sides.

On the boys’ side, the Indians outraced Ottumwa, who finished in second. #12 Williamsburg was third, followed by Chariton, and Newton to round out the top five in the 12 team field.

Colton Berg led the way for the Indians, finishing in 6th. He was followed in 7th by Austin Scholes. Willis Knox finished in 9th, Carter Huyser finished 14th, Jack Miller 17th, Jacob Hacker 27th, and Talon Munger rounded out the varsity in 35th.

On the girls’ side, Oskaloosa got the win over #4 Williamsburg, Newton, Ottumwa, and Knoxville, who were the top five in the 11 team field.

Sienna DeJong finished in second place in the field, and she was followed by Lauren Coon in 6th, Bailey Blythe in 9th, and Aleeya Cheney in 10th. Sereena Cheney finished in 16th, Brey Hill finished in 24th, and Melissa Moorman finished in 31st to round out the varsity squad.

The cross country teams will look to keep up the positive momentum in Newton next Tuesday.
