A plethora of experience will grace the lanes for the Statesmen women’s bowling program as it looks to again be in the national picture in 2015-2016.

Head Coach Mark Van Wyk and Assistant Coach Breanne Underwood return first-team all-Midwest Collegiate Conference performer Stephanie Adams (Jr., Souris, Manitoba, Business Management), who is widely considered one of the top bowlers in the nation after owning a 194.1 average (72 games, high of 269).

Six other returners, headed by Briell Newberry (So., Holland, Mich., Secondary Education) at 170.5, also competed on the varsity last year and should provide Adams with great complements. MacKenzie Boyd (Jr., Knoxville, Iowa, Human Services/Sociology) (164.0), Emily Braga (Sr., Newton, Iowa, Communications) (168.2), Audra Farley (So., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Education) (151.1), Cybil Lennie (So., Ottumwa, Iowa, Undecided) (165.7), and Montana Pence (Sr., Stronghurst, Ill., Elementary Education) (167.6) also rolled at least 25 games last year.

Jocelyn Beaver (So., Knoxville, Iowa, Business Management) and Elizabeth Christy (So., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Digital Communication) return as well, while the coaching staff has brought in newcomers Kaylee Gerken (Fr., Dubuque, Iowa), Amber Ovel (Fr., Waterloo, Iowa), and Cheyanne Starr (Fr., Ottumwa, Iowa) to strengthen the program.

Schedule

William Penn opens its 10-tournament season this weekend at the Storm Western Shootout in Indianapolis, Ind. Highlighting the season is the team’s holiday trip to Las Vegas, Nev., while the Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic will conclude the regular season on February 20-21.
