OSKALOOSA BOYS' SOCCER BEAT GRINNELL

Oskaloosa Boys’ Soccer Beat Grinnell

The Oskaloosa boys’ soccer team hosted Grinnell last night and both the varsity and JV had successful nights.

The varsity squad got the win 2-1. Grinnell jumped out to an early lead by scoring a goal only 7:30 minutes into the game. Ean Honeycutt found the net for the Tigers. The Indians kept their heads in the game and played well together as a group. With nine minutes left in the 1st half Rogan Skutka scored Oskaloosa’s first goal.

The second half was a close battle, but Colton Berg put the Indians ahead with a late goal with about 12 minutes left. Grinnell kept surging and created several good scoring opportunities in the closing minutes of the game, but the defense led by Brady DeJong and Ben Boston, with 12 saves held them in the final minutes.

The JV saw the Indians get a 2-0 win over the Tigers. Kirkland Howard and Isaac Parks scored goals and Dylan Grubb made 9 saves for Oskaloosa.

Next up, the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will host Centerville in a doubleheader Thursday at the Lacey Recreation Complex. Action starts with the girls at 5:30 PM.
