Dolly Parton’s signature theme park, Dollywood, has been evacuated due to a raging wildfire that is threatening the resort towns of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. On Monday night (11/28), the resort staff evacuated families from 50 rooms at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort as well as families staying in 19 cabins at Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Cabins. An assessment of the property on Tuesday morning (11/29) revealed that there was no damage to the park itself but more than a dozen cabins managed by Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Cabins were damaged or destroyed.
- Dolly Parton said earlier yesterday (11/29): “I have been watching the terrible fires in the Great Smoky Mountains and I am heartbroken. I am praying for all the families affected by the fire and the firefighters who are working so hard to keep everyone safe. It is a blessing that my Dollywood theme park, the DreamMore Resort and so many businesses in Pigeon Forge have been spared.”
- As of Tuesday, the town of Gatlinburg and a portion of Pigeon Forge, where Dollywood is located, were under a mandatory evacuation order.
