The non-denominational Bible Study Women's Coffee Break will take place at the First Christian Reformed Church, 815 N. 11th St. in Oskaloosa, at 9:30 a.m. with the study being the Sermon on the Mount.

Pre-Harvest Breakfast will be served from 6:00-9:00 a.m. at the Hendrick Christian Church in Hendrick. A free will offering will be collected. Biscuits and sausage gravy, potatoes, scrambled eggs, coffee cake, orange juice, coffee, and hot tea will be served.

Bethel Baptist Church and H & S Feed & Country Store are sponsoring "Life Lessons from the Round Pen" featuring Bob Toomer of Grantsville, Utah. Toomer is a follower of the "horse whisperer" school of horse training and will take an unbroken horse and be able to ride the horse in two hours. Pioneer Fall Festival is presented by Mahaska County Historical Society and Nelson Pioneer Farm on Saturday providing fun for the entire family just north of William Penn University on Hwy. 63 take Glendale Road east 2 miles to the Nelson Pioneer Farm. The day will include elementary spelling bees at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. as well as candle dipping, Indian beading, and a country dinner from 11:00-1:00 p.m. There will also be antique tractors and antique equipment demonstrations at 10:30 a.m. on top of a fiddle contest at 1:30 p.m. and parade at 2:30 p.m. Pioneer Living Displays will be from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and $2 for children. The Sully Lions Club Benefit Consignment Auction will be on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the Lynnville-Sully middle school gym. A breakfast of cinnamon rolls and coffee will be available; lunch will also be served by the Lions Club. This will be held in conjunction with the Sully city-wide garage sales.

The Melcher-Dallas Public Library is having a Spaghetti Dinner and BINGO fundraiser for the Building Fund at the Melcher-Dallas Community Center/Lions Club, 112 N. Main Street, Melcher-Dallas. Dinner will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with BINGO from 7:30-10:00 p.m. The dinner will be a free will offering, and BINGO will collect 25¢ per card per game.

First Church of the Open Bible will be having their 2010 Fall Bazaar on Saturday, October 9 from 9 am to 3 pm. Lunch will be served from 11:30 am to 2 pm at a cost of $6. The free clinic is open the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month, except holidays, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the Specialty Center of Mahaska Health Partnership... Patients can begin retrieving numbers to be seen at 3:30pm. Patients must return by 5:30pm in order to register.
