Billed as a “Hootenanny,” the final subscription concert of the Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra will take place on Saturday, May 16, 7:30 p.m. at Bridge View Center. The jam-packed program will feature a variety of repertoire from Bach to Bill Monroe.
Pianist Megan Miller, winner of the Young Artist Competition, will perform the first movement of Mozart’s Concerto #23 with the Orchestra followed by Michal Brauhn’s performance on marimba of the third movement of Bach’s Concerto in G Minor.

Also appearing on the program will be Ottumwa’s own Bluegrass Blondies, a family string quintet. An additional treat will be the appearance of fiddlers of all ages from the surrounding area as they strike up tunes such as “Gold Rush,” “Big Sandy River” and “Billy in the Lowground.”
The Ottumwa Symphony Orchestra will round out the program with performances of ”Lullaby” by William Hofeldt and the string rendition of Aaron Copland’s “Hoedown.”
