Northwest of Newton lies a small city of Mingo in Jasper County. A Des Moines man arrived at a residence in Mingo and was walking the property looking for the homeowners’ wife. Carlos Alvarez arrived at the victim’s house with a short-barreled shotgun.
Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on scene and arrested Alvarez on possession of offensive weapon charge. Alvarez was arrested and charged with the following:
- Controlled substance violation – Methamphetamine
- Unauthorized possession of offensive weapons
