E.B.F.H.S Marching Band Wins At Pella

The Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont Marching Band had a great day in Pella Saturday as they outscored a total of 10 other bands at the Marching Dutch Invitational.  The band placed 1st in class 2A with a score of 66.4 seven points ahead of the closest 2A band.  EBF also won the Outstanding Color Guard Award.

PCM won the Outstanding Drumline Award in class 2A.  Eddyville Blakesburg Fremont outscored the bands from Belle Plaine, PCM, Carlisle, South Tama, North Polk, Knoxville, Williamsburg, Humboldt, Bondurant-Farrar, and Ottumwa.

The E.B.F.H.S. Marching Band has 73 members this year.  The soloists for this year’s show are Teri Jo Lane, Claire Jager, Katie Fisher, Maggie Voyles, Delanee Van Zante, Adlynn Eveland, and Briana Ver Steegh.  The Drum Majors are Claire Jager and Grace Manternach.  The band is directed by Joe Overton, Dezirae Fairchild, and Color Guard instructor Paige Ver Steegh.

This Saturday, the band travels to Urbandale for the Urbandale Marching Invitational Contest.  They perform at 5:30 in class 2A competition.  The band competes at Valleyfest in West Des Moines on October 8th.  On October 15th the band competes at State Marching Band Contest in Pella and then at the Mid-Iowa Band Championships in Ankeny that evening.  As always, friends and supporters of the band are encouraged to attend and lend your vocal support.
