ERNST PUSHING TO KEEP VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT

Ernst pushing to keep Violence Against Women Act

During a visit to Sigourney last week, Iowa US Senator Joni Ernst told the No Coast Network she will be pushing to extend the Violence Against Women Act.  She explains what’s in that law.

“What this bill provides is resources that can be available to educate and then to help prevent violent acts against women, whether it’s sexual assault, sexual harassment or domestic violence.  Not only are we trying to educate, but then provide resources for those that might be suffering on the tail end of a violent act.  Do they have somewhere to go?  Do they have a counselor to speak to?”

Ernst says it’s also very important that resources to help women be extended to rural areas, where they are greatly needed.
