FIREFIGHTERS BATTLE MOBILE HOME FIRE

Firefighters Battle Mobile Home Fire

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Fire Department was called to Oak Creek Village (Lamson) on Saturday evening, around 6:20pm, to the report of a mobile home on fire.

Firefighters were just backing the truck into the fire station bay from a previous call. When arriving at the scene, Oskaloosa Fire Chief Mark Neff said that the responding crew had gotten a “really good knock down” of the fire. “Any time you can have a trailer house still standing, in that close of proximity, with fire coming out the windows, the guys did a good job”.

Neff said at the time of the incident that he had a “pretty good idea” what caused the fire, but wasn’t ready to release that information.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were sustained as a result of the fire.

The 5 residents of the home have been displaced, and Neff said he believes the home is a total loss.

Joining Oskaloosa Fire at the scene was the Oskaloosa Police Department, Mahaska Health Partnership Emergency Services, along with aid from Mahaska County 911 Dispatch.
