GOVERNOR REYNOLDS WAS IN OTTUMWA YESTERDAY

Governor Reynolds was in Ottumwa yesterday

Governor Kim Reynolds was in Ottumwa Tuesday morning to celebrate Registered Apprenticeship Week.  She and Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg spoke at the Job Corps Center about the benefits of taking an apprenticeship.  Reynolds says there are apprenticeships available in the medical field, as well as for electricians, HVAC, carpenters and more.

“These are great jobs, great opportunities.  The average salary for a registered apprenticeship is $60,000 a year.  Nationally, workers who complete apprenticeship programs earn $300,000 more during their career than their peers.”

Reynolds says an apprenticeship also allows you to learn a trade by doing.  State grants are available to businesses that will offset the cost of having an apprentice.
