Indian Hills 12th Annual Diversity Conference

OTTUMWA — The 12th annual Diversity Conference, hosted by Indian Hills Community College, will be held on Friday, Mar. 18, on the IHCC Ottumwa campus.

The conference will feature a pair of keynote speakers and various interesting breakout sessions throughout the day.

The opening keynote will be given by Julissa Arce, who will share her story “My Underground American Dream” that talks about her journey as an undocumented immigrant to the United States at the age of 11. Julissa built a successful career on Wall Street, and made national and international headlines when she revealed that she had achieved the American dream of wealth and status while undocumented.

Clemencia Spizzirri, 2015 Iowa Teacher of the Year, will be the afternoon keynote.

Spizzirri, originally from Ecuador, will speak about the importance of creating a sustainable culture of achievement and understanding inside and outside the classroom.

Online registration and additional information can be found at www.indianhills.edu/diversity. Online registration is $35 if completed by Mar. 15.

After that date it is $40. Student registration is $10. Lunch is included in all registrations.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. in St. John Auditorium at Indian Hills. The conference will run from 8:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
