Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s Latest Rankings

As we wind closer to the postseason for the girls’ high school soccer, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union posted their latest rankings.
In Class 1A, Fairfield fell out of the rankings from the 14th position. Nevada is still first, followed by Iowa City Regina, Bishop Heelan Catholic of Sioux City, Davenport Assumption, and Clear Creek-Amana.

In Class 2A, the four Little Hawkeye Conference teams are still in the rankings, led by Dallas Center-Grimes, who is now second. Ankeny is ranked first. North Scott is third, Pleasant Valley is fourth, and Waverly-Shell Rock is fifth. Pella is still in the #8 spot, Newton is right behind them in ninth, and Grinnell is 13th.

Finally, there are no area schools in Class 3A. The rankings for the largest class have Iowa City West in first, Dowling Catholic is second, and Cedar Rapids Kennedy in third. West Des Moines Valley and Waukee round out the top five.

Regional play for girls’ soccer begins on May 29th, which includes Oskaloosa hosting Ottumwa in the first round in Class 2A.
