Iowa Man Guilty of 2nd-Degree Murder in Roommate’s Slaying

OTTUMWA, Iowa (AP) — A 25-year-old Wapello County man has been convicted of second-degree murder in the slaying of his roommate.

A jury found Erik Davila guilty Friday. Prosecutors say he fatally shot 24-year-old Hugo Hernandez on March 13 last year at their residence about 2 miles (3 kilometers) east of Ottumwa.

Davila faces 50 years in prison at sentencing.
