According to the Walgreens Flu Index, not only does Iowa rank in the top ten states with gains in flu activity, but so does the market of eastern Iowa specifically.
Iowa ranks at number four in the top ten state list. The cities of Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Iowa City, and Dubuque are at number five for DMA’s with the top rising flu numbers.
With Wisconsin being across the river from Dubuque, that state’s rank may affect the rise in cases in Iowa as well. The state of Wisconsin is at number eight on the list.
Other areas in the state of Iowa have ranked on the market list for flu cases. Des Moines and Ames rank at number seven. Some cities in Wisconsin also rank on the DMA list.
The CDC says flu season runs until April. As the Midwest feels the affects of this flu season, it is never too late to get a flu vaccine.
