IOWA SPEEDWAY ANNOUNCES COMPLETE 2016 SCHEDULE

Iowa Speedway Announces Complete 2016 Schedule

NEWTON, Iowa (November 5, 2015) – Iowa Speedway is pleased to announce its 2016 platform, featuring eight high-powered races over three weekends next summer.

Wide Opening Weekend will feature the first ever pairing of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Iowa Speedway. Fans now can make plans to celebrate Father’s Day Weekend and these two NASCAR national series as they take center stage June 18-19 in Central Iowa. The move to a June start will better serve fans who are busy with the planting season and graduations in the month of May.

“Pairing the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with the NASCAR XFINITY Series on Father’s Day Weekend and an off-week for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is quite a coup for us,” said Iowa Speedway President Jimmy Small. “We will have top billing that weekend and we can’t wait to showcase central Iowa and ‘The Fastest Short Track on the Planet’ to motorsports fans here in Newton and across the country.”

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will make its way back to Iowa Speedway for another mid-summer, short track classic Saturday night, July 9. The 150-lap ARCA race will serve as the preamble to the next day’s IndyCar Series Iowa Corn 300, bringing together a high-profile stock car tour with the top open wheel circuit in America. In the 2015 ARCA race, Iowa native Mason Mitchell thrilled the crowd when he took the checkered flag, proclaiming in Casey’s General Stores Victory Lane that the win was “his Daytona”.

The Verizon IndyCar Series Iowa Corn 300 will be contested Sunday, July 10. The last time that INDYCAR raced on a Sunday, at Iowa Speedway, was in 2013 when James Hinchcliffe won his first career IndyCar Series race in front of Iowa’s passionate fan base.

The 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series Iowa Corn 300 will mark the 10th anniversary of the event. In 2007, Iowa Speedway gained widespread attention when INDYCAR became the first major series to race at the newly opened track. Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires and the Pro Mazda Championship presented by Cooper Tires also will be in action July 10.

“Having two SaturdaySunday shows to open our season is great for fans who want to maximize their tailgate time and take in all the action of practice and qualifying,” Small said. “We believe that the changes to our schedule increase the quality of the experience that fans will have when they come to the track, which is important as the summer months are jam packed with great things to do in Iowa.”

The Iowa Speedway racing season concludes July 29-30 with another top-notch NASCAR doubleheader featuring the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East / West Casey’s General Stores 150 combination race and the ever-popular NASCAR XFINITY Series U.S. Cellular 250.

Season ticket sales begin Wednesday, Dec. 2. Current Season Ticket Holders will receive a renewal letter in the mail and as in years past and will have an opportunity to renew their existing tickets until Feb. 24, 2016. Season Ticket Holders who have moved during the past 12 months should contact the Iowa Speedway ticket office with their change of address or update their Ticketmaster account to ensure that they receive the renewal mailing.
