June 29th: On This Day

On this day in 2012, Blake Shelton received a Double-Platinum Certification¬†for his single “Honey Bee”. The song was Blake’s fist single from his sixth studio album Red River Blue. “Honey Bee” sold 138,000 digital downloads it’s first week, setting a new record for first week downloads by a male country singer. Because of these download numbers, “Honey Bee” debuted at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100, making him the highest-debuting male country artist on that chart since Garth Brooks.

The song received a Grammy Nomination for Best Country Solo Performance, but lost to Taylor Swift’s “Mean”.

It has since been Certified Triple-Platinum.
