On this day in 2001, both Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney were found not guilty on all charges stemming from Kenny’s infamous unauthorized horse ride backstage during the George Strait Country Festival in Buffalo, New York.

According to reports, Chesney had asked a Sheriff’s daughter if he could ride the horse, before climbing aboard the horse and riding off, ignoring orders to stop.  Two officers tried to remove him, and McGraw and his manager got involved. A small scuffle broke out resulting in the officers suffering slight injuries.
