On this day in 1975,  C.W. McCall’s “Convoy” debuted on the Billboard chart. The song would hit #1 on both the country and pop charts and would stay on the country chart’s top spot for six weeks.

The song was the inspiration for the Sam Peckinpah film, Convoy.

“Convoy” is Certified Gold by the RIAA.
