OSKALOOSA BOYS' TRACK PLACES SECOND, GIRLS' PLACE FIFTH

Oskaloosa Boys’ Track Places Second, Girls’ Place Fifth

The Oskaloosa Track and Field teams were in action last night in the Little Hawkeye Conference Championships.

The boys’ had a great night, grabbing four victories en route to a second place finish. Pella was the team champion by a healthy 70.5 point margin, while Osky held off Dallas Center-Grimes for second. Norwalk was fourth, Grinnell was fifth, Newton was sixth, and Pella Christian finished in seventh.

Jack Moore won the high jump, Skylar DeJong won the 1600 meter run, and the 1600 meter medley relay team of Dwayne Lipscomb, Max Johnson, Tucker Nunnikhoven, and Skylar DeJong set a season best in winning their event. Skylar also tied with twin brother Spencer in a dead heat in the 3200 meter run. The team had 22 new personal records in the meet.

On the girls’ side, Osky finished in fifth in the team standings. Pella was again a big winner, outpacing the field by over 80 points. Dallas Center-Grimes was second, Grinnell was in third, and Newton was in fourth in a tight battle toward the top. Norwalk and Pella Christian finished behind Oskaloosa. The girls’ set three personal bests on the night. The headlining events were second place finishes by Sienna DeJong in the 3000 meter run and Asia Laudermilch in the 100 meter dash, who had a personal record time of 12.77.

The boys will be back in action next Monday at Pella, while the girls will be in Norwalk to compete this Thursday.
