OSKALOOSA GIRLS' SOCCER REMAINS HOT, DEFEATS CHARITON

Oskaloosa Girls’ Soccer Remains Hot, Defeats Chariton

The Oskaloosa Girls Soccer team capped off a busy first week of action with a 3-0 win in their home opener over Chariton Thursday night. It took a bit to get things rolling thanks to a cold night with a stiff wind and on and off again rain but junior Ashley Brockman, who returned from an injury she suffered on Monday, scored the first Indian goal, and despite numerous shot attempts and dominating possession most of the first half, Osky led just 1-0 at halftime. In the second half, freshman Aleeya Cheney scored two goals, both off free kicks as a result of fouls drawn by Brockman. This was the third game this week for the Indians and they’re off to a 3-0 start with a 2-0 win at Des Moines Hoover on Monday, 8-0 at Ottumwa on Tuesday, and 3-0 last night over Chariton. Cheney has found the back of the net seven times already this season including a four goal performance on Tuesday. The Indians now get some time to rest up before returning to the pitch on Tuesday, April 12, when they host Pella Christian to open up Little Hawkeye Conference play.  Action starts with the JV at 5:30 followed by Varsity around 7 PM.  You can hear the Varsity match live on 99.5 FM/740 AM KMZN, the KMZN mobile app, and radiokmzn.com.
