OSKALOOSA GIRLS' TENNIS ELIMINATED IN SECOND ROUND OF TEAM REGIONALS

Oskaloosa Girls’ Tennis Eliminated In Second Round Of Team Regionals

The Oskaloosa girls’ tennis team won their first round team regional on Saturday against Knoxville at Central College in Pella. This match-up was tight the entire way. The teams were knotted up 3-3 after singles. The match would go down to the wire at #1 doubles but our new doubles team of Brooke Caves and Macy Scharff stormed back from a set down and clinched the win at #3 doubles. This would set-up a rematch with Pella in the afternoon session and a chance to advance to the round of 16.

Unfortunately, Oskaloosa lost another heartbreaker to Pella 5-4. The Indians had several chances to win this match but it slipped away. The teams split the six singles matches 3-3 and then Osky dropped 2 of 3 doubles matches. Head Coach Josh Bandstra said the girls played hard and he was very proud of their effort.

Pella moves on to face Cedar Rapids Xavier in Iowa City this Saturday for a trip to the first round of the state tournament in Class 1A Region 4. Grinnell shutout Pella Christian to move onto the regional final against either Marion or Mount Vernon-Lisbon. That match was suspended due to weather on Saturday, and will be finished this afternoon.

The girls’ regional individual meets begin for tennis this Thursday for qualification to the state tournament next month.
