Oskaloosa Softball Shuts Out Grinnell

The Oskaloosa softball team has been more than just a little impressive so far this year, blowing out the competition in nearly every contest.

Monday night was no different, as the Indians strolled to an 11-0 run-rule victory over conference foe Grinnell in five innings. The offense stayed hot, as Alexis Westercamp led the way with 2 home runs, including a walk-off shot with two outs in the fifth after an 11 pitch at-bat. Alexis Groet dominated both at the plate and in the pitching circle. The sophomore went 3 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBI, and moved to 7-0 pitching with 11 strikeouts, two walks, and only allowing one hit in five innings of work. Bethany Rowley added two hits, while Alexis Vroegh and Kylee Silliman had two hits each.

The win moves the second ranked Indians to 11-0 on the season and 2-0 in Little Hawkeye Conference play. The girls are undoubtedly looking forward to their game Wednesday against third ranked Dallas Center-Grimes on the road, but before that, they must take care of business tonight against non-conference opponent Washington. The Demons are coming to town for a doubleheader, which is scheduled to begin at 6 PM at the Oskaloosa softball diamond east of the high school. You can hear both games on the Mahaska Zone Network, 99.5 FM and AM 740 KMZN and on kboeradio.com. The pregame for the first game will start around 5:45, as the Indians look to continue their torrid start before facing defending state champion DCG on Wednesday.
