OSKALOOSA TAKES EDDYVILLE-BLAKESBURG-FREMONT IN THE HIGHWAY 63 SHOWDOWN

Oskaloosa Takes Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont In The Highway 63 Showdown

They call it the Highway 63 Showdown, but it was dominated by one side this year.

The Oskaloosa and Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont cross country teams met to help gear up for the big cross country season and it was all Indians on both the girls’ and boys’ sides.

For the girls, Sienna DeJong got off to a great start, finishing the course at Edmundson Park in 21:40, nearly two minutes ahead of anyone else on the team. Bailey Blyth, Lauren Coon, Aleeya Cheney, and Sereena Cheney rounded out the top five, all for Oskaloosa. EBF’s first finisher crossed the line in 13th.

On the boys’ side, Colton Berg led the way, followed closely by Jack Miller. EBF’s Peyton Walker finished in third, but Osky had the rest of the top ten finishers, including Willis Knox and Josh Diehl.

We’ll have plenty of cross country coverage all season long here on the Mahaska Zone Network, including an interview with Oskaloosa Cross Country Coach Mike Comfort this Saturday on the Fifth Quarter Show, which begins at 8:30 AM on 104.9 FM KBOE, 99.5 FM and AM 740 KMZN and on kboeradio.com.
