A group of Mahaska County citizens appeard this morning at the Mahaska County Auditor’s Office at 11:30 am to present a petition with over 900 signatures. The petition was to request a special election to renew the local option sales tax for Mahaska County ,with specific language on the distribution of funds. Spokesman Mark Willett read a statement from the group known as “One Mahaska” regarding the purpose of the petition.

Willett said he would be present at next Monday’s meeting of the Mahaska County Board of Supervisors.
