Public works director Akhilesh Pal states that the D Street construction project will be done by the end of the calendar year.  They will finish up with the landscaping next spring.  They are currently working on the sewer from 6th St on the south end and heading north. They are at 2nd St now.  Pal said that with the extreme heat the workers and everyone else are trying to beat the heat.  It’s a large project with lots of underground utilities including electric, sewer and water mains.  According to the city, other ongoing projects include sanitary and storm sewer improvements,  a reconstruction project on Burlington Rd and other road repairs.  A future project will be replacing the bridge on North 17th Street.
