SOFTBALL ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS ANNOUNCED, INCLUDING SEVERAL AREA HONOREES

Softball All-District Teams Announced, Including Several Area Honorees

The All-District Teams were announced in all five classes, and several area athletes were honored.

In Class 4A, Oskaloosa was represented by a pair of sophomores: Alexis Groet and Aubrey Miller. Groet had a phenomenal campaign in the circle and really hit the ball well late in the year. Miller led the Indians in batting and played a very good defensive second base. They are joined by Pella’s Sara Tallman, Knoxville’s Taylor Carter, Newton’s Sydney Jenkins, and Fairfield’s Brynna Bowman and Mackenzie McClure.

In Class 1A, Lynnville-Sully’s Stacey Alberts was honored as the South Central Coach of the Year. There were several area honorees in this district, led by a trio of Alberts’ players on the Hawks. Seniors Madison Rasmussen and Lysandra James were honored along with junior Kasiah Ehresman. Sigourney had a couple of members on the team after a great year as well, as senior Jordan Carter and freshman Autumn Barthelman were named to the team. Twin Cedars’ Bailey Dunkin, North Mahaska’s Emma Deucore, Melcher-Dallas’ Megan Roush, and Moravia’s Autumn McDanel and Emma McDanel round out the area players. Cardinal’s Alexis Adam was named to the Class 1A Southeast All-District Team.

In Class 2A, there were two area athletes named to the Southeast All-District squad. Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont senior Sadie Baugher made the team, as did Pella Christian’s sophomore pitcher Emma Schnell.

In Class 3A, PCM had a couple of honorees in the Central District. Seniors Molly Vignovich and Racheal Freland were both honored. In the Southeast District, Mid-Prairie’s Alex Rath and Amber Kral were named to the team. They’ll both be back for their senior seasons next year. Albia’s Emma Dinneen and Centerville’s Lexi Riggall also were among the players on the team.

The softball state tournament begins in Fort Dodge next Monday.
