SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR 713 WABASH HOUSE FIRE

Suspect Arrested for 713 Wabash House Fire

On Friday, June 16, 2017, at approximately 5:11 a.m., the Ottumwa Police Department received a 911 call about a disturbance taking place at 713 Wabash. Police responded and found two residents of 713 Wabash outside of the house and the house on fire.

A male suspect was on top of the front porch roof when officers arrived. The suspect then jumped off of the roof which caused the suspect to lose consciousness. The suspect was transported to a medical facility for treatment of his injuries.

The victim was identified as Alyssa Ryan, of 713 Wabash. The victim reported to police that a Violation of a Restraining Order took place as a result of this incident. Police and Fire Department Personnel are investigating the circumstances leading to the fire.

New Information

On Sunday, June 18, 2017, at approximately 10:50 a.m., the Ottumwa Police Department arrested Shane Brandon Ryan, age 42, and charged him with the following offenses: Violation of a Restraining Order, a Simple Misdemeanor, with a $25,000 cash only bond after the initial arraignment.

Arson 1 st Degree, a Class “B” Felony, with a $25,000 cash only bond.

Burglary 1 st Degree, a Class “B” Felony, with a $25,000 cash only bond.

Ryan is being held in the Wapello County Jail with a $75,000 cash only bond. The Police

Department was assisted with the investigation by the Ottumwa Fire Department and the Cedar

Rapids, IA, Fire Department.
