On this day in 2000, Tim McGraw’s album A Place in the Sun was Certified Triple Platinum by the RIAA. The album was McGraw’s fifth studio project and produced four number one singles “Please Remember Me”, “Something Like That”, “My Best Friend”, and “My Next Thirty Years”.

The album hit #1 on the US Billboard Top Country Albums chart and the US Billboard 200, making it a crossover success.

A Place In The Sun reached number one on both the U.S. Billboard Top Country Albums chart and the U.S. Billboard 200, making it a crossover hit.

“Please Remember Me” was nominated for Best Male Country Vocal Performance at the 2000 Grammy Awards. “My Best Friend” was nominated in the same category the following year.
