Darius Rucker Has Raised Over $1 Million for St. Jude

After nine years of supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and their mission, Darius Rucker and his friends have passed the $1 million fundraising mark for the cause. The milestone mark was reached after Rucker held his eighth annual “Darius and Friends” benefit concert on Monday night (6/5) in Nashville, which, along with this year’s auction and golf tournament, raised $402,000 for St. Jude.

 

  • The benefit show was held at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium and featured performances from Dan + Shay, Luke Combs, Michael Ray, John Oates of Hall & Oates, KISS guitarist Tommy Thay, as well as a surprise appearance from Brooks & Dunn.
  • Darius says, “I’m so grateful to all our friends who came out and donated their time to be on the show– and Brooks & Dunn for surprising me onstage! Just wow!”
  • The $402,000 raised breaks last year’s record and brings the cumulative total raised for all years to $1.2 million.

April 28th: On This Day

On this day in 2001, Brooks & Dunn began a six-week romp at #1 on the Billboard US Hot Country Songs chart with “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You”. The song was released as the first single from their album Steers & Stripes.

“Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You” was nominated by the Country Music Association for Single of the Year, and eventually ranked as the Billboard US Hot Country Songs chart’s No. 1 song of 2001.

February 28th: On This Day

On this day in 2002, Kix Brooks & Ronnie Dunn were surprised with the Humanitarian Award at the Annual Country Radio Seminar in Nashville.

The duo were given the award for  performing at countless benefit concerts, their involvement with the Red Cross flood relief efforts in St. Louis, Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville, and other charitable organizations.

More Legendary Performers Added To CMA Awards

The star power at the upcoming 50th Annual CMA Awards continues to grow with the addition of more legendary acts to the lineup.  Joining the star-studded lineup are 2016 Country Music Hall of Fame inductees Charlie Daniels and Randy Travis; former Entertainer of the Year winners Ricky Skaggs and Roy Clark and former CMA Awards host Clint Black. The new wave of performers also includes Jason Aldean, Chris Stapleton, Thomas Rhett, Jennifer Nettles, Martina McBride and Dwight Yoakam, as well as multi-format performers Elle King and Pentatonix.

 

·       These artists join previously announced performers Alabama, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Vince Gill, Alan Jackson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Tim McGraw, Maren Morris, Kacey Musgraves, Brad Paisley, Charley Pride, Reba, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, and Garth Brooks with Trisha Yearwood.

·       The 50th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 2 at 8:00-PM ET on ABC.

BMI President’s Award – Kenny Chesney

Kenny Chesney will be honored with the BMI President’s Award during the 64th annual BMI Country Awards in Nashville on November 1. The BMI President’s Award is presented to songwriters who have had a profound influence on the entertainment industry. Some of the award’s past honorees include Willie Nelson, Brooks & Dunn, P!nk, Pitbull and Toni Braxton.

June 27th: On This Day

On this day in 1995, Brooks & Dunn’s debut album, Brand New Man, was Certified Platinum.  The album produced four consecutive Number One hits with “Brand New Man”, “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”, “My Next Broken Heart”, and “Neon Moon”.

Brand New Man would peak at number 3 on the U.S. Billboard Top Country Albums chart.

The album has since been Certified 6× Multi-Platinum.

Reba And Brooks & Dunn Teaming Up At CMA Awards

Reba and Brooks & Dunn will team up to perform on the 49th annual CMA Awards next week. The ceremony will also feature previously announced one-of-a-kind collaborations between Eric Church and Hank Williams Jr., Thomas Rhett and rock band Fall Out Boy, and Keith Urban performing with John Mellencamp.
