Kelly Clarkson on Raising a Bold Daughter

We all know Kelly Clarkson is a strong and empowered woman, and she’s making sure her daughter River grows up to be strong just like she is.

“I love that [River] is very bold, and she’s progressive for three,” Kelly tells “People.” “She watches ‘Jurassic Park’ and loves it, and ‘Harry Potter’…it doesn’t affect her and she’s just very grown up and very boss.”

She adds, “I don’t want my daughter to be a pushover when she’s older. So that’s an awesome thing, it’s an awesome aspect of her character. At the same time, you also want to have an adult that doesn’t think they’re right all the time. But toddlers are just so egocentric and it’s just a stage that some people don’t grow out of, let’s be real. But mine will.”

And Kelly has no doubt that her daughter will grow up to be a leader.  “She will run a company one day because there’s no way she’s gonna work for anyone,” she says. “She does not heed advice very well. She’s just very ballsy, which is awesome.”

Brett Young Pops the Question

Brett Young’s female fans are bound to be a little disappointed with his latest news. The singer has revealed to “People” that he and his longtime girlfriend Taylor Mills are engaged.

Brett popped the question earlier this month and shares, “We are both more excited than we can express and looking forward to starting this chapter of our lives together.”

Brett’s proposal took place at the Graduate hotel near his college, Ole Miss. “We met in Arizona while she was at school at ASU, and we will likely get married there, so I thought it would be romantic to propose where I went to school,” he explains. “We were able to get a suite with a large covered patio and the hospitality staff at the hotel set it up while we were at dinner, so it was waiting for us when we got back.

Brett and Taylor dated for about six years ago before taking a “break” when he went off to Nashville. He shares, “We recently got back in touch and realized that we were both finally in the same place and knew it was right.”
