Urban says the song “spoke to me,” and he had quite a reaction the first time he sang it in the studio. He notes, “as I was singing it, I thought I feel like I’ve known this song my whole life.”

He adds, “I didn’t record it for any other reason than it was a heart reaction that I had to it.”

Carrie Underwood Proud Of USA Olympic Athletes

Carrie Underwood, whose song “The Champions” is being used as part of NBC’s Olympic coverage, is certainly watching and cheering on all our athletes.

The singer says all the athletes are great role models, noting, “it’s absolutely impossible to pick one.” Carrie says Olympians are the true definition of role models, because they “work so hard and for so long” for their goal, which is to represent the U.S.

“I think no matter where you’re from or what you’re into, you can watch the Olympics and just find someone to cheer for,” she says. “(We) can be proud that they are the ones out there that are representing us.”

Chris Janson Invited To Be A Member Of The Grand Ole Opry

According to a report by the Rolling Stone, country musician Chris Janson is set to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Janson was invited to receive the prestigious honor by Keith Urban, who joined him onstage at the Ryman Auditorium earlier this week.

Urban and Janson performed the John Michael Montgomery song “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)” and when it was over Urban gave Janson quite the surprise.

“I know the feeling of the night I got invited, it’s an incredible feeling,” Urban said. “And I think it’s about time you feel that way too, Chris.” An excited Janson couldn’t help but jump up and down and shed a few tears. As for his answer? All he could say was, “holy sh*t.”

He later tweeted, “I am so grateful. I am so humbled. I will likely never sleep another day in my life. This is life changing.”

Janson is expected to officially become a member of the Grand Ole Opry this spring.

Lyrics Uncovered: Chris Janson, ‘Drunk Girl’

Chris Janson says another “Drunk Girl” co-writer brought the bulk of the song to the writing session, but his own experiences as a father inspired his performance.

Tom Douglas — who along with Scooter Carusoe helped Janson write the second single from Everybody — had the idea and song title, and once the write began the “Drunk Girl” lyrics came easy. All three men have daughters, so in a lot of ways their message was a wish for how men would treat their little girls if they were in a “Drunk Girl” situation.

“And we would hope that our boys would treat a girl like that too, so it’s a two-way street,” Janson says.

“Take a drunk girl home / Let her sleep all alone / Leave her keys on the counter, your number by the phone / Pick up her life she threw on the floor / Leave the hall lights on walk out and lock the door / That’s how she knows the difference between a boy and man / Take a drunk girl home,” he sings at the chorus.

“Drunk Girl” was inked in 2017, long before the #MeToo movement became big news, and well before songs with similar themes hit the radio. It was always Janson’s plan to drop the song as a single in the fall or winter — at least it was after he was convinced to keep it. Originally he held the song back during record label meetings, thinking he’d try to pitch it to Tim McGraw. But his wife Kelly brought it up and his record label team urged him to keep it because it was such a good fit for who he is as a singer, songwriter, father and man.

“The parts that were oddly connecting with me on a personal note were ‘through the paper-thin walls you can hear your neighbors cigarette cough,’ like those kind of things,” he tells Taste of Country of the “Drunk Girl” lyrics. “I don’t know very many people that haven’t lived in a single apartment before coming up through the ranks of life. I have. Several.”

The second verse of “Drunk Girl” goes: “You leave her drive for a dive and you get something bad to eat / They’re singing ‘Closing Time’ at that bar across the street / In two by twos, strangers and lovers headed for the covers, hooking up / That TV in your two-bedroom, sound’s turned off / And through the paper-thin walls, you can hear the neighbor’s cigarette cough / There’s a million things you could be doing but there’s one thing you’re sure damn glad you did.”

Janson talked to Taste of Country just days after the 2018 Golden Globe Awards, where dozens of Hollywood elites wore black on the red carpet to raise awareness for a group that fought sexual harassment, abuse and gender inequality. He didn’t intend for his song to be a part of this larger conversation, but he’s not mad about it.

“You have to be comfortable with that as a songwriter because you never know where you’re song is gonna lead is gonna go and what life it’s gonna take on. You can control it to an extent and then sometimes you have a song like ‘Drunk Girl,’ you cannot control it. It’s gonna be what it is,” he assures.

Another thing Janson couldn’t control during the write was his emotions. The “Drunk Girl” lyrics hit home for him as a father of four. “It was hard to not cry, to be honest with you. It was a pretty emotional write,” he says.

Jason Aldean Receives ‘Coolest Gift Ever’

So, what do you get the man who has everything for Christmas–up to and including his first newborn son, who was delivered a few weeks before Santa was on the clock? Well, if you’re Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany, you just might buy him … a bowling championship belt.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BdJzrEmgGfW/

Aldean posted a picture of the flashy waist-gear on Christmas evening, with an approving note affirming it was perhaps “the coolest Christmas gift ever” from his wife and kids. He also references “Night Train Laynes,” which is, of course, a play on the title of his fifth studio album as well as his wife’s middle name.

Looks as if Brittany rolled herself a strike with this gift…and let us not forget, she was responsible for the best gift of all, baby son Memphis, already earlier in the month!

Aldean’s home has a private two-lane bowling alley (which Brittany has documented in Instagram stories), so it’s safe to say the singer is a fan of the sport. As we aren’t quite sure exactly where he’ll find the right occasion to wear such an, er, statement-making new belt, it’s a good thing to know that he can put it to use on his home turf.

Aldean is a sports fan in general, having gotten Memphis already in the act wearing Georgia Bulldogs gear before the little man even left the hospital after being born.
