Under The Radar Music: Joe Ely

Howdy folks! Our artist this week hails from Amarillo, Texas. Singer-songwriter Joe Ely is far from a household name, but he should be. His debut album was released in 1977, and the following year, he performed some shows with believe it or not, punk pioneers The Clash. His raw, honest vocal style and song craftsmanship exemplifies what country music should be, in my opinion.

Here’s his music video for “All Just To Get To You”:

Just Joe and a guitar on this live version of a song made famous by Keith Whitley, “Hard Livin’”:

And this positively smokin’ rockin’ performance of “For Your Love” from TV’s “Austin City Limits”:

With 24 albums, there’s a lot of Joe Ely’s music to explore. Mighty fine stuff!

See ya next time! – Bobbo     🙂
