June 29th: On This Day

On this day in 2012, Blake Shelton received a Double-Platinum Certification for his single “Honey Bee”. The song was Blake’s fist single from his sixth studio album Red River Blue. “Honey Bee” sold 138,000 digital downloads it’s first week, setting a new record for first week downloads by a male country singer. Because of these download numbers, “Honey Bee” debuted at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100, making him the highest-debuting male country artist on that chart since Garth Brooks.

The song received a Grammy Nomination for Best Country Solo Performance, but lost to Taylor Swift’s “Mean”.

It has since been Certified Triple-Platinum.
