BP Gas Station South of Ottumwa Robbed at Gunpoint

(OTTUMWA, Iowa) – On March 20, 2018 at approximately 1:01AM, Wapello County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from BP Gas Station south of Ottumwa located at 4108 Hwy 63. The caller reported that a male subject had entered the gas station and pointed a handgun at the caller and had stolen some cigarettes after being unsuccessful in opening the cash register. The caller advised the vehicle left north on Hwy 63 and provided Wapello County Dispatch with a description of the vehicle that the male subject was seen getting into.

A short time later Ottumwa Police Officers seen a vehicle matching the description northbound on Madison Ave in Ottumwa, a traffic stop on the vehicle was conducted at Madison Ave and Mary St. in Ottumwa.

As a result of the investigation Wapello County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Jacob Bonner, 18, of Eldon, Iowa and Gabriel Clarkson, 18, of Eldon, Iowa for Robbery 1st a Class B Felony. were held in the Wapello County Jail.  Ottumwa Police Department assisted in the investigation.

No other details have been released about this investigation.

Drug Task Force Arrests Ottumwa Felon Currently on Parole

(OTTUMWA, Iowa) – On Monday, March 5, 2018, at approximately 8:30 AM, members of the Ottumwa Police Department, Wapello County Sheriff’s Department, and the Southeast Iowa Inter-Agency Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 616 N. Green Street in Ottumwa.

The Ottumwa Police Department’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) was utilized to secure the residence.  As a result of the search, officers seized 2 handguns, methamphetamine, THC concentrates, and evidence relating to the use and distribution of controlled substances.

Police arrested Lorenzo Gabriel Langarcia, age 24, of 616 N. Green, with the following:

  • Possession with the Intent to Deliver more than 5 Grams of Methamphetamine, a Class “B” Felony
  • Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, a Class “D” Felony
  • Dominion/Control of a Firearm by a Felon, a Class “D” Felony
  • Prohibited Acts- Possession of THC (Enhanced), an Aggravated Misdemeanor

Langarcia is currently being held in the Wapello County Jail with no bond.

Ottumwa Man Arrested for Burglary, Resisting Police

On Tuesday, March 06, 2018, at approximately 3:23 AM, officers responded to 317 S. Milner, Ottumwa, on a possible burglary in progress call. Officers located a male suspect inside the basement area of the residence. The male refused to identify himself to police but was later identified as Christopher Garrett Allen, age 27, of Ottumwa.

Allen was arrested and charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree, a Class “C” Felony and Interference with Official Acts (3 Counts), all simple misdemeanors.
