Shania Twain Announces New Single and Album Details

Shania Twain has been hinting for months that a big music announcement was coming, and now the wait is finally over. Twain has revealed that her brand-new single, “Life’s About to Get Good,” will ship to radio this June and her first album in 15 years will be released in September. Twain will debut her new single on Saturday (4/29) when she headlines Stagecoach Festival in Indio, California.

 

 

  • Shania says of writing her new single, “I was at home looking out at the ocean and I said to myself, ‘Here I am stuck in this past of negativity, but it’s so beautiful out. I’m not in the mood to write a ‘feeling-sorry-for-myself’ song. You can’t have the good without the bad. And that’s what the song ended up being about.”

Stage Fright Once Caused Shania Twain To Pee Herself

While appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Tuesday night (4/18), Shania Twain revealed that she had once peed herself right before one of her high school band performances. Twain made the candid revelation when she was asked about her battle with stage fright, which she’s struggled with for several years. In the interview, Shania also revealed her ingenious way of keeping the accident a secret by spilling a glass of water on the floor next to her. The interview can be seen here.

 

Shania Twain Will Mentor Contestants On The Voice

Shania Twain will serve as a key advisor on Season 12 of NBC’s The Voice, appearing as a mentor to the show’s remaining contestants on April 24. Twain revealed the news on Twitter Thursday (4/13), saying, “Excited to announce that I’ll appear on @nbcthevoice this month, as a mentor to the finalists.”  Shania is no stranger to mentoring singing competition contestants, as she once served as a guest judge FOX’s American Idol.

March 21st: On This Day

On this day in 1996, Shania Twain’s The Woman In Me was #1 on the Country Albums chart. The album produced six singles, three of which hit #1 on the Hot Country Singles chart, “No One Needs to Know”, “Any Man of Mine”, and “You Win My Love”.

The Woman in Me is Twain’s second studio album and has gone on to be Certified 12× Platinum by the RIAA.

Shania Twain Will Receive Billboard’s Icon Award

Shania Twain will receive the 2016 Women in Music “Icon” award during Billboard’s 11th annual Women in Music event later this year. The award is presented to artists whose contributions to the music industry put them among the highest class of performers. Billboard’s annual Women in Music event will be held in New York City on December 9 and will air nationally on Lifetime on December 12.

 

·       Singer-songwriter Halsey will be presented with this year’s Women in Music “Rising Star” award, while Madonna will receive the 2016 Woman of the Year award.

·       During last year’s ceremony, Kelsea Ballerini was honored with the “Rising Star” Award and Loretta Lynn received the “Legend” award.

 

Stars Shine At The CMT Artists Of The Year Ceremony

Country’s biggest stars were in Nashville on Wednesday night (10/19) for the annual CMT Artists of the Year special. The ceremony was held at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center, where the night’s honorees Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line, Kelsea Ballerini, Luke Bryan, Shania Twain and Thomas Rhett were celebrated with special performances and presentations. The special premiered last night (10/20) on CMT.

 

Highlights of the ceremony included:

 

Shania Twain was presented with the biggest honor of the night; the award for “CMT Artist of a Lifetime.” Pop star Meghan Trainor and R&B singer Jill Scott were on hand to honor Shania, joining Kelsea Ballerini for a cross-genre medley of Twain’s iconic hits “Still the One,” “Any Man of Mine” and “Man, I Feel Like A Woman.” A clip of that performance can be seen here.

 

Kelsea Ballerini was also the recipient of the second “Breakout Artist of the Year” honor. After Kelsea’s Greatest Hits co-hostArsenio Hall presented her with the award, she thanked CMT for their continued support of female artists and dedicated the award to her grandfather, who passed earlier that day. Ballerini also gave a performance of “Peter Pan,” which can be seen here.

 

–Little Big Town presented Luke Bryan with his fifth “CMT Artists of the Year” honor durng the ceremony.  During theirpresentation, LBT poked fun at Bryan by unveiling a tiny training bicycle on stage in reference to Luke’s recent bike accident. Bryan and Karen Fairchild also took the stage to perform their chart-topping duet “Home Alone Tonight.”

 

–Thomas Rhett accepted his first-ever “CMT Artists of the Year” honor, thanking his friends and co-honorees, Florida Georgia Line and Luke Bryan, for their influence and support, and for paving the way for him. Rhett also teamed up pop star Zara Larssonfor a mashup of his hit “Die A Happy Man,” followed by her song “Never Forget You.” A clip of that performance can be seen here.

 

–As Chris Stapleton accepted his Artist of the Year honor, he recalled being on the same stage two years ago to perform his fellow honoree Luke Bryan’s hit “Drink A Beer.” Stapleton also performed his hit song “Whiskey and You.” The performance can be seenhere.

 

–Honoree Carrie Underwood gave a performance of her song “Like I’ll Never Love You Again,” backed by co-writers The Love Junkies. During her acceptance speech, Underwood got emotional after seeing a video of her son Isaiah on the screen. Her speech can be seen here.

Artist Of A Lifetime Award – Shania Twain

Shania Twain will be honored with the Artist of a Lifetime award during the seventh annual CMT Artists of the Year ceremony in Nashville on October 20. Twain will become the first female to ever receive the prestigious award, which was presented to Merle Haggard and Kenny Rogers in 2014 and 2015, respectively.

 

·       Shania is among the ceremony’s 2016 honorees, which include CMT’s top artists of the year: Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan and Thomas Rhett.

·       The 90-minute special will be taped live at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center and will air on CMT at 9 PM ET.

 

August 3rd: On This Day

On this day in 1995, Shania Twain‘s “Any Man of Mine” was the most popular song in the country for a second straight week. The song was the second single from Twain’s second studio album The Woman in Me.

The song was nominated for Grammy’s for Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance.

It won Single of the Year at both the Canadian Country Music Awards and Country Music Radio Awards in 1995, as well as the Country Single of the Year at the 1996 Jukebox Awards and Song of the Year at the 1996 RPM Big Country Music Awards.

May 17th: On This Day

On this day in 1998, Faith Hill’s “This Kiss” held the #1 slot on the chart. The song was off of Hill’s third studio album Faith. “This Kiss” was nominated for two Grammy Awards for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and Grammy Award for Best Country Song but lost both categories to “You’re Still the One” by Shania Twain.
