The 7th Grade Girls’ Volleyball Teams Split With Pella

The 7th Grade Girls’ Volleyball teams played Pella on Tuesday night coming away with a split of the four teams.

The A team finished off their season on a 4 game winning streak with avenging an earlier season loss with a 4-1 win to bring their season record to 8-2. The scores were 15-8, 15-5, 21-19, 8-15, 15-11. The team was led by Sophia Dykstra with 8 aces followed by Abby Braundmeier with 6, Ellie Henry with 2, and Makenna Schaffner and Kaylee Johnson with 1 a piece. Schaffner and Johnson each had a kill as well.

The B team also finished the season on a winning note with a come from behind victory against the Dutch. After falling behind 0-2, the girls won the next 3 games to win 3-2 with scores of 13-15, 13-15, 15-12, 15-12, and 15-10. The team finishes the season with a 5-5 record.

The team was led by Jazmin Chavez with 8 aces followed by Katelynn Moore and Akeylah Lawrence with 5, Kiara Bjornson with 3, Cecilia Nicolas with 2 and Linnett Ramirez with one.

We are so pleased with how much the girls have grown over the season. Many of the girls had never played volleyball before and always came ready to learn and make themselves better. We are excited to see what this group of girls will do in the future.

The C and D teams were also in action against Pella. The C team played hard, but lost with scores of 7-15, 9-15, 19-17, 4-15, and 8-15. The D team also battled hard, but fell with scores of 8-15, 8-15, 14-16, 10-15, 9-15. The teams were led by Sariyah Clayton with 5 aces followed by Rachel Rice, Kerrie Anderson and Riley Johnston with 3, and Jaysa Goodwin, Makayla Covey, Kaity Dalbey, Ryan Meeth, and Lauren Milledge with 2 each.

The C and D teams will conclude their season Tuesday while taking on Knoxville.
